Rodel Pacheco Nacianceno, better known by his screen name Coco Martin, was born on November 1, 1981, in Pampanga, Philippines. He spent his early years in Novaliches, Quezon City, raised by his grandmother. Martin pursued higher education at the National College of Business and Arts in Quezon City, earning a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management.
His acting career kicked off in 2001 when he joined ABS-CBN's Star Magic talent agency. Initially gaining attention through minor roles in TV commercials, Martin soon found his niche in independent cinema. His breakthrough arrived with the 2005 film Masahista (The Masseur), earning him critical acclaim and setting the stage for further successes.
Over the next decade, Martin starred in notable projects such as Kaleledo, Daybreak, and Jay, solidifying his reputation as a versatile actor. Transitioning to television, he headlined shows like LigawnaBulaklak, TayongDalawa, and NagsimulasaPuso, eventually breaking into prime-time dramas with Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo and landing his first lead role in TonyongBayawak. His film debut in Sa YoLamang further broadened his appeal.
Despite mainstream achievements, Martin periodically revisited independent productions, including another acclaimed performance in Kinatay, which garnered a FAMAS Award nomination. By the 2010s, he dominated both TV and film, starring in hits like Minsan Lang KitangIibigin, WalangHanggan, and IkawLamang, while also producing hits such as Born to Love You and You're My Boss.
With over 70 acting awards and 30 nominations to his name, Martin’s enduring talent has significantly boosted his financial standing. Currently, he balances leading roles in hit series like FPJ's Ang Probinsyano and upcoming projects such as AngPanday, alongside recent ventures like The Super Parental Guardians.
